Writer, actor, and all-around artistic guru Lin-Manual Miranda has had a number of successes this year with his rap musical Hamilton having been the talk of Broadway since the summer, but its about to explode this December 18.
As director J.J. Abrams revealed on Jimmy Fallon, he approached composer Miranda after attending Hamilton to write some music for The Force Awakens. As it turns out John Williams only wanted to do the score and not the diegetic music within the world of The Force Awakens. So Abrams brought in Miranda to co-write the music for what he calls “our version of the Cantina scene.”
The original Cantina music has been easily as recognizable as the Star Wars theme itself, so interestingly enough this might be one of the biggest music shockers of the new film to go with a new direction.
What Miranda’s version will sound like will be definitely be amongst the buzz come December 18 as Star Wars nerds abound make their comparisons. This entry was posted in General and tagged catina, star wars on .
