One of the most versatile American violinists in the field today, Jennifer Koh is set to make new ground with her upcoming album Two x Four, out at the end of this month from Cedille Records.
Jennifer Koh will actually be teaming up with former teacher Jaime Laredo, ala Jedi-apprentice style as they tackle on perform four double concertos (hence the album title) ranging from Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D minor, BWV 1043, Philip Glass’s “Echorus,” Anna Clyne’s “Prince of Clouds” and David Ludwig’s “Seasons Lost.” Koh will also be joined by the Curtis 20/21 Ensemble conducted by Vinay Parameswaran in a passing-of-the-torch like manner (Koh was a former student).
Koh is on a roll this year with her upcoming web documentary series Off Stage On Record already drawing buzz for its premiere in May, showing she’s not your ordinary run-of-the-mill violinist.
