Composer Keith Kenniff, otherwise known under his moniker Helios, created the most shared original piece of music specifically made for social media with his retrospective piece “Years.” Commissioned by Facebook for their 10th Anniversary and clocking in at just slightly over a minute, “Years” became the most used music embed in history with thousands of facebook users creating retrospective videos of their “facebook lives” to the default tune.
In response to the strong demand for the full piece, Helios revealed himself to be the composer of the #FacebookIs10 music two weeks ago and recently released the full extended length of “Years” much to the chagrin of facebookers everywhere. Every bit as joyous and tearful as the original one minute cut, the extra two minutes in the “Years” long version provides a strong, emotional ode to the memories that have rapidly passed yet live on digitally…and sentimentally of course.
“Years” long version is available for commercial retail download now at Helios’ Big Cartel page and will be available on iTunes, Spotify, and other digital music providers soon. This entry was posted in General, Music and tagged classical, facebook, facebookis10, helios, Keith Kenniff on .
