Iconic metal band Metallica is set to perform at the 2014 Grammy Awards with none other than renowned Chinese classical pianist Lang Lang for what is set to be the most intriguing performance of the awards’ show and the most unique pairing since Eminem’s 1999 duet with Elton John.
Metallica’s first Grammy performance since 1992 will set to be heavily watched but will not be their first foray into classical mashups. The band previously performed with the San Francisco Symphony for their 1999 S&M recording which included a symphonic backing to their greatest hits. For Lang Lang, it will not be his first foray either into performing alongside non-classical acts, having previously played with Danish electronic band Oh Land! and American Idol winner Katherine McPhee, but his team-up with Metallica is his first with a hard rock act.
While CBS or the Grammy Awards producers have not officially announced the “duet” sources close to the production team and to Metallica have confirmed it is indeed set to happen. This entry was posted in General and tagged lang lang, metal, metallica, piano on .
