Released today off his upcoming new album Spaces, contemporary classical composer and pianist Nils Frahm unveiled a telling hint of the record’s magnificence with the new piece “Says.”
“Says” is a dazzling array of astro-tones, in a minimalist but unworldly-like sound. The track’s tense but steady buildup lead to an all-out, blitzkrieg climax. For Frahm, 2013 has been exceptionally busy with a mini-US tour, production credits on Arcade Fire’s Sarah Neufeld’s solo debut, and collaborations with fellow neo-classical composer and Erased Tapes labelmate Ólafur Arnalds.
Spaces drops on November 19. You can catch Frahm performing music off Spaces and previous records in limited engagements starting next week in the US. Of significance are his west coast dates which will be in support of Ólafur Arnalds.
