In space no one can hear you scream, but they sure can hear damn good scores. Steven Price’s incredibly dramatic score for the acclaimed film Gravity won a hotly contested and mostly unpredictable category for Best Original Score. Price’s score for the film which was largely unorthodox due to mechanical feel, held more heart-burdening weight than the rest of the competition. With the exception of Owen Pallet’s score for Her, Price was unlike anything heard before for a Best Original Score nominee.
Combining a feel for a big sci-fi blockbuster and a vintage dramatic score, Price’s music for Gravity was truly in a league of its own.
