Lead singer Bryce Dessner of The National and lead guitarist/keyboardist of Radiohead Johnny Greenwood, two of the biggest names in the indie/alt world team up for an interesting combo album featuring classical compositions from both figures.
Set to be released in late 2013/early 2014, the album features 3 new orchestral works by Dessner featuring himself on guitar, and Greenwood’s “There Will Be Blood” soundtrack as a complete suite in its recorded debut entirety. Greenwood has been known to dabble in the classical world having composed numerous soundtracks, including last year’s brilliant The Master soundtrack. Dessner himself will have his debut classical recording be released later this year featuring performances by the Kronos Quartet. For both, this recording will mark a landmark statement in “officially” stamping their place in the plateaus as that of their other contemporary classical peers.
