The National’s Bryce Dessner Debut Album As a Composer

Bryce Dessner, composer & guitarist from The National, will make his debut record as a composer featuring four new self-written works performed by himself and the Kronos Quartet, as well as an appearance by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus. For both Dessner and the Kronos Quartet this will not be the first foray of classical/indie blending. Dessner as part of the National, has played alongside various string quartets over his career, including arrangements with the Calder Quartet. Kronos most recently played with Sir Paul McCartney at The Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco.

The new album, entitled Aheym as a dedication to Dessner’s grandmother, will be available on November 5 via Anti Records.

See the tracklisting below and a preview of “Aheym” performed by the Warhol Dervish. If the feverish and dramatic undertones of the opening track are any indication, Aheym is shaping up to be this fall’s most highly anticipated neo-classical release.

02 Little Blue Something
03 Tenebre
04 Tour Eiffel
